Thanks to mandatory Energy Labels in the European Union, the exact battery specifications for Apple’s newest flagship phones, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, have been officially confirmed. While Apple usually keeps these precise numbers under wraps, the new EU rules provide a transparent look into the devices’ internal hardware.
According to the official labels, the European version of the iPhone 18 Pro houses a 4,056mAh battery, marking a slight 1.45% increase from the previous generation. The iPhone 18 Pro Max sees a much more substantial upgrade with a 5,391mAh cell—an 11.8% boost compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This notable difference in capacity clearly explains why the larger Pro Max model delivers significantly longer battery life on a single charge.
It is worth noting that these specific battery sizes apply to EU models, which still retain physical SIM card trays. In international markets where the devices are sold without physical SIM slots, the freed-up internal space could potentially allow for even larger battery capacities than the figures published for Europe.
Beyond battery size, the EU Energy Labels graded the phones on several other metrics. Both devices earned an ‘A’ rating for overall energy efficiency, a ‘B’ for drop resistance, and a ‘C’ for repairability. They also maintain standard IP68 ratings for dust and water protection. Furthermore, the labels verify that these batteries are engineered to withstand at least 1,000 charge cycles before their maximum capacity dips below 80%.
