The Pakistan Army has entered into an agreement with U.S.-based drone company Powerus, with the arrangement including an initial order related to unmanned aerial systems.
Powerus co-founder Brett Velicovich confirmed that the company had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Army. While the agreement includes an initial order, specific details regarding the equipment, number of systems and financial value have not been disclosed due to confidentiality and security considerations.
Agreement Covers Unmanned Aerial Systems
Powerus specializes in aerial and maritime drone technologies designed for military as well as industrial applications.
Although details about the equipment Pakistan will receive remain undisclosed, Velicovich confirmed that the agreement falls within the broader category of unmanned aerial systems.
The development could mark the beginning of a wider technological relationship between Powerus and Pakistan rather than being limited to a single procurement.
Powerus Delegation Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir
The agreement comes alongside high-level discussions between Pakistan’s military leadership and representatives of the American company.
A Powerus delegation led by Brett Velicovich met Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
According to Pakistan’s military, discussions during the meeting covered areas including defence procurement, production and long-term capacity building.
However, the military’s public statement about the meeting did not specifically announce the MoU or provide details about the initial order.
Local Technology Development Could Be Explored
Beyond the initial procurement, Powerus has indicated an interest in establishing a broader technological partnership with Pakistan.
The company is exploring opportunities that could potentially involve developing or producing technology within Pakistan.
Such cooperation could expand the relationship from equipment procurement toward local technological capabilities and longer-term collaboration between Pakistani and American defence-sector organizations.
At this stage, however, detailed plans for local production have not been publicly confirmed.
Powerus Preparing for Major Corporate Merger
The agreement also comes as Powerus prepares for a significant corporate development in the United States.
The drone company is expected to merge with publicly traded Aureus Greenway Holdings, with the transaction expected to be completed in early October 2026.
An investment fund associated with Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump is expected to hold a 9.9% beneficial ownership stake in the combined company following the merger, according to regulatory filings.
Powerus executives have rejected suggestions that the company’s contracts are connected to the Trump family’s investment.
A representative for Donald Trump Jr. has also stated that he had no role in negotiating, obtaining or executing the Pakistan agreement.
US-Pakistan Defence Cooperation in Focus
The drone agreement arrives during a period of increased engagement between Pakistan and the United States across economic, financial and defence-related areas.
For Pakistan, cooperation involving unmanned systems could potentially support efforts to expand access to advanced defence technologies and strengthen domestic technical capabilities.
However, several important details remain confidential, including the exact drone systems involved, their specifications, the size of the initial order and the financial terms.
Further information may emerge as cooperation between Pakistan and Powerus develops.
