Bahrain Reaffirms Commitment to GCC-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement
Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to finalising the Gulf Cooperation Council–Pakistan free trade agreement.
The commitment followed the third Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission session in Islamabad on October 8, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
Trade and Investment Cooperation
Both countries agreed to establish a government-level Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment to support regular consultations and coordination.
They also plan to convene an energy working group in November to discuss oil, gas and minerals.
Wider Economic Engagement
The discussions covered cooperation in food security, information technology, labour mobility, health, education, culture and sports.
Al Zayani also outlined an ambition to double bilateral trade within three years.
Agreement Still Awaiting Finalisation
The announcement reflects a renewed commitment to completing the GCC-Pakistan FTA. It does not confirm that the agreement has entered into force or that new tariff concessions are already available.
