Karachi Flour Prices Rise by Another Rs6 Per Kg
Flour millers in Karachi increased prices across several varieties by another Rs6 per kilogram on Thursday, taking the cumulative increase over recent days to Rs20 per kilogram.
The latest adjustment comes ahead of the Sindh government’s planned release of wheat stocks from October 15 to help stabilise flour prices.
Updated Mill Prices
Following the increase, mills issued these rates:
| Flour variety | Price per kilogram |
|---|---|
| Flour No. 2.5 | Rs161 |
| Maida | Rs173 |
| Fine flour | Rs176 |
These are mill-issued prices. Consumers could face further increases when retailers pass on the latest adjustment.
Sindh Plans Wheat Release
The provincial government plans to release wheat at Rs12,500 per 100-kilogram bag.
Sindh currently holds 346,414 tonnes of wheat. An additional 190,000 tonnes from the Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Services Corporation and 300,000 tonnes of imported wheat are expected to bring stocks available for release to 836,414 tonnes.
Retail Impact Remains to Be Seen
The planned wheat release is intended to ease price pressure. Whether it provides relief to households will depend on subsequent changes in mill and retail prices.
