Benelli and Moto Morini Bikes Planned for Local Assembly in Pakistan
Two Italian motorcycle brands, Benelli and Moto Morini, are expected to be assembled locally in Pakistan under a plan by Buraq Automobile.
The company is developing a completely knocked down (CKD) assembly plant in Sheikhupura. Buraq CEO Mobeen Ahmed told PakWheels that the facility is expected to be ready by December, with the first locally assembled motorcycles targeted to roll out in January 2027. Buraq’s company information also lists the plant’s commercial assembly operations as planned for 2027.
Which motorcycles are in the first phase?
According to the interview, the initial lineup is expected to include Benelli’s 180S and TNT 150i, along with Moto Morini’s 450cc adventure motorcycle and a 300cc variant.
The plan would shift these models from fully built imports to local assembly using CKD kits. Buraq currently imports and distributes the brands in Pakistan. Local assembly does not necessarily mean that every component will be manufactured in the country.
Price reductions are projected, not guaranteed
Ahmed told PakWheels that local assembly could lower prices. As an example, he cited a tentative price of Rs1,995,000 for the Moto Morini Alltrhike 450, compared with an imported price of Rs2,600,000. Those figures are company estimates reported in the interview, not confirmation of a retail price available to buyers.
Buraq also said any future savings from a proposed auto policy could further affect prices if the government approves it. No additional policy change or resulting discount has been confirmed.
A planned expansion into local production
The project would add premium motorcycles to Pakistan’s local assembly sector, which has traditionally focused on lower-displacement commuter bikes. However, the timing and model lineup remain subject to the company completing its plant and beginning operations.
For now, the January 2027 rollout is Buraq’s stated target. Buyers should wait for official model launches and final pricing before treating the planned reductions or launch dates as settled.
