The federal government, acting on the latest update from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), has announced yet another hike in petroleum prices. Marking the fourth straight day of increases, the cost of both motor spirit (MS) petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) will rise for the upcoming 24-hour pricing cycle.
Under the new rates, petrol has jumped by Rs. 3.05, bringing the current cost to Rs. 370.80 per litre. High-speed diesel saw a more significant spike of Rs. 5.37, taking its new price to Rs. 398.04 per litre.
This latest adjustment follows steep increases on Wednesday, where petrol went up by Rs. 3.40 and diesel by Rs. 6.72. Since the government transitioned to a daily fuel pricing model, consumers have faced a massive cumulative increase. Over this period, petrol prices have soared by a total of Rs. 59.50 per litre, while diesel has skyrocketed by Rs. 68.53 per litre, placing continued upward pressure on transportation and living costs.
