Karachi May Face Peak-Hour Load-Shedding, KE Warns

Karachi May Face Peak-Hour Load-Shedding as Gas Supplies Tighten

K-Electric has warned that Karachi could face load management during evening and night peak hours because of nationwide constraints in regasified liquefied natural gas supplies.

The utility’s spokesperson attributed the shortage to international supply disruptions and delayed cargoes affecting electricity generation.

Power Cuts Described as a Last Resort

The company said additional load management could become necessary as an exceptional, last-resort response to supply constraints.

The warning is conditional and does not establish a fixed outage schedule for every neighbourhood.

Peak Hours and Outage Schedules Differ

K-Electric lists its April–October peak-hour window as 6:30pm to 10:30pm.

That billing window should not be interpreted as a confirmed four-hour power cut. Actual interruptions depend on operational conditions and area-specific arrangements.

What Residents Should Check

Residents should consult K-Electric’s official channels for updates relevant to their area. The reported warning does not specify how long the additional measures could remain necessary.
