Pakistan Army Completes 66km Road Track Linking Astore and Skardu
The Pakistan Army has completed a 66-kilometre road track connecting Astore and Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan, improving transport links across difficult mountainous terrain.
According to a public announcement, the route has shortened the journey between the two areas to a few hours.
Eight Villages Regain Direct Access
The project has restored direct connectivity between eight villages in Gultari’s Phoota Khas Valley and their district headquarters.
The improved connection makes travel easier for communities that depend on mountain roads to reach administrative centres and nearby markets.
Support for Local Economic Activity
The road is expected to facilitate trade, agricultural transport and the movement of livestock between Astore and Skardu.
These benefits remain expectations rather than measured economic outcomes. The announcement did not provide an exact journey time or project cost.
