Positive Economic Trend: Pakistan Sees Significant Increase in Remittances for August 2026

According to recent figures from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the country experienced a substantial boost in workers’ remittances during August 2026. The total inflows reached $3.66 billion, marking a 17 percent increase compared to the $3.14 billion received in August of the previous year.

There was also a marginal 1 percent growth when comparing August to July’s inflow of $3.63 billion. For the first two months of the 2027 fiscal year, combined remittances totaled $7.29 billion, which represents a 15 percent rise over the $6.35 billion for the same period last year.

Analyzing the source countries, Saudi Arabia remained the primary contributor, sending $873 million, a 19 percent year-on-year growth. The United Arab Emirates followed with $750 million, up 17 percent, and the United Kingdom showed a strong performance with a 22 percent increase to $564 million. Other regions also saw increases, including the European Union at $496 million (+15%), the United States at $309 million (+16%), and other Gulf states at $327 million (+8%).

Looking ahead, both market analysts and the central bank are optimistic. Topline Research projects that Pakistan’s remittances will reach $43.7 billion for the complete 2027 fiscal year. This aligns with the State Bank’s own outlook, which forecasts a total of around $44 billion.
