Pakistan Experiences Dramatic Surge in Foreign Investment in July 2026

A massive wave of foreign investment swept over Pakistan last July, according to latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan. The country saw a net foreign direct investment (FDI) of $179 million, which is an eye-opening 264 percent increase compared to the previous month. While that figure is still 20 percent below last year’s performance, the monthly leap is a clear sign of renewed investor interest.

The investment inflows were largely concentrated in two key sectors: power and financial business. These sectors accounted for the highest level of foreign investment during July, suggesting a strong focus on core infrastructure and financial stability.

China and Canada emerged as the largest net contributors to Pakistan’s FDI during the month. This highlights continued economic partnerships and a diversification of investment sources.

The significant month-over-month increase is a positive development for Pakistan’s economy, pointing to a potential shift in investor sentiment and a possible rebound in FDI in the coming months.
