EA Cricket 07 Comes to the Browser With Online Multiplayer

EA Sports Cricket 07, the 2006 cricket game, has been reworked to run in a web browser, with support for online one-on-one matches.

The fan-made project, created by developer Dhaiwat Pandya, rebuilds the game to work with modern browser technology. Its source code explains that the original Windows executable was translated from x86 machine code into C and compiled to WebAssembly. The project also recreates parts of the game’s graphics and input systems using WebGPU and browser controls.

For multiplayer, each player runs the same game simulation while their controller inputs are shared online. The project describes this as a lockstep system: both games apply the players’ inputs together and compare game-state data to detect if the match goes out of sync.

Players can use a keyboard or game controller. The browser build’s repository says both players need the same build and game files, and that the project itself does not include the original game files. The public browser experience may have different setup requirements, so players should check the instructions on the specific site they use.

Cricket 07 was originally published by EA Sports. The browser project is unofficial, and its creator’s repository states that Electronic Arts is not involved. It also distinguishes the open-source porting code from the copyrighted game itself.

The browser release offers a new way to revisit the classic game and play a friend online, without installing the original Windows version in the usual way. It remains a fan project, rather than a new official release from EA.
