Pakistani Killed, 11 Injured in Riyadh Airport Strike

Pakistani Resident Killed, 11 Injured in Fresh Riyadh Airport Strike

A Pakistani resident was killed and 11 people were injured when a fresh strike hit King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Sunday, according to Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority.

The attack followed a separate deadly strike on Saturday that had already disrupted airport operations.

Projectile Sparks Fire at Airport

The Saudi-led coalition said a projectile struck the airport and started a fire. It also reported intercepting a missile nearby.

The Houthis claimed multiple attacks over the preceding 24 hours, including an attack on the airport, and threatened further strikes against Saudi transit hubs.

Airport Operations Remain Disrupted

Airport operations were suspended following Saturday’s attack. Aviation sources reported damage to radar and communications equipment, with runway assessments also required.

The report described further extensions to the closure. Passengers should check their airline’s latest flight status, as the closure information reflects the situation at the time of reporting.

Several foreign embassies advised their citizens to avoid Riyadh airport amid the attacks.

Separate Attacks and Casualty Figures

Saudi authorities reported 12 deaths and 309 injuries from Saturday’s strike. India’s embassy subsequently said an Indian citizen died on Sunday from injuries sustained the previous day.

Those figures concern the earlier attack and are separate from the Pakistani fatality and 11 injuries reported after Sunday’s strike.

Saudi aviation authorities also reported an attack on Dammam airport, while the coalition announced additional missile and drone interceptions.

The repeated attacks have intensified concerns over civilian safety and aviation disruption as fighting between Saudi-backed forces and the Houthis continues.
