Punjab Police Concerned Over Unconfirmed KP Deployment

Punjab Police Personnel Express Concern Over Unconfirmed KP Deployment

Punjab Police personnel deployed in Attock and Wah Cantt have expressed concern over reports of a possible transfer to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, alongside complaints about food quality, fatigue and inadequate facilities.

However, Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem clarified that no final decision or directive had been issued to relocate the force to KP.

Reports of Transfer Add to Welfare Concerns

Rumours suggested that 25,000 personnel from a deployment of approximately 40,000 could be moved to KP following the emergency declaration and imposition of governor’s rule.

Officers described exhaustion, insufficient sleep and poor accommodation. Personnel also complained about catering and washroom facilities, particularly in Attock. Some senior officers supported these concerns and criticised local deployment arrangements.

Police Chief Responds to Food Complaints

The IGP said improving food provision was a priority, while rejecting allegations of widespread adulteration. He added that Punjab Food Authority teams had been assigned to check food quality and drinking water.

Five Deaths Confirmed During Deployment

Abdul Kareem confirmed that five constables died during the preceding two weeks of security deployment: Zulfiqar Ahmed, Zain Ali, Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Shahzad and Usman Idrees.

According to his account, two died from heart attacks, one drowned accidentally in Ghazi Canal and two died from severe medical complications. He also clarified that a constable bitten by a snake remained under treatment.

The reported transfer to KP remained unconfirmed.
