Toyota Hydrogen Hilux Planned for 2028 With 400+ Km Range

Toyota Plans Hydrogen Hilux for 2028 With Over 400 Km Range

Toyota has confirmed plans to launch a hydrogen fuel-cell Hilux in 2028, adding another powertrain option to its pickup range.

The company is targeting a driving range exceeding 400 kilometres and towing capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes.

Range and Towing Targets

Toyota outlined these targets during its hydrogen technology presentation at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover.

The figures describe development goals rather than final, independently verified production specifications.

Fuel-Cell Hilux Heads Towards Dakar

Before the planned launch, Toyota GAZOO Racing intends to enter a fuel-cell Hilux in the Dakar Rally’s Future Mission 1000 category in 2027.

The programme forms part of Toyota’s broader work on hydrogen technology for transport.

Pricing and Local Availability Awaited

Toyota’s announcement does not establish a Pakistan launch date or local pricing.

Further details on market availability, final specifications and refuelling requirements will be needed before buyers can assess the production model.
