FIA Arrests Two Over Alleged Hundi/Hawala Operations in Dera Ghazi Khan
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two suspects in separate operations in Dera Ghazi Khan over allegations of running hundi/hawala networks.
According to an agency spokesperson, officers recovered a combined Rs705,000 in cash, along with mobile phones and other material during the raids.
Cash and Transaction Records Recovered
In the first operation, the FIA’s DG Khan Circle detained a suspect allegedly operating an illegal money transfer network. Officers recovered Rs680,000, a mobile phone and records described by the agency as relating to illegal transactions.
A second raid targeted a store at Pull Notak, where officials arrested a suspect identified as Saim. The agency alleged his involvement in hundi/hawala activity and reported recovering Rs25,000, a mobile phone and other evidence.
Both operations were supervised by the composite circle’s deputy director. Further investigations were underway.
Separate Arrest in Employment Visa Case
In an unrelated operation, the FIA Bahawalpur Composite Circle arrested Saeed, a Lodhran resident described by the agency as a proclaimed offender.
Officials said he was wanted in FIR No. 160/2024, registered by the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle under Section 22-B of the Emigration Ordinance, 1979.
The FIA alleged that he received Rs195,000 from a woman after promising to arrange a Dubai employment visa for her son but failed to fulfil that commitment.
The agency said further investigation into the case was continuing. The allegations against the arrested individuals remain under investigation.
