Last Three Pakistani Survivors of Somali Pirate Hijacking Return Home

The remaining three Pakistani crew members rescued from MT Honour 25 have returned to Karachi, completing the repatriation of the surviving Pakistani sailors.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced on October 7 that Imran Ali, Muhammad Yasin and Syed Husain Yousuf were travelling home from Addis Ababa. A subsequent official update confirmed their arrival at Karachi Airport.

Diplomatic Missions Assisted Their Return

Dar said Pakistan’s ambassador in Addis Ababa met the sailors and ensured they received necessary assistance during their stay.

Earlier, a team from Pakistan’s embassy in Djibouti accompanied them following their rescue. Dar thanked Somalia’s government and the European Union’s Operation Atalanta for helping secure their release.

Survivors Welcomed in Karachi

Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi welcomed the three men at the airport, where Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab was also present.

The governor asked about their well-being and expressed solidarity with the affected families.

Four other injured Pakistani crew members and the remains of three colleagues had been repatriated earlier. Dar expressed sorrow over the deaths and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to international cooperation against maritime piracy.
